Aesop, born a slave in 6th Century BC, is heralded as one of the great moral teachers of all time. Traveling to countries around the Mediterranean Sea, he tell entertaining stories of animals with human foibles and strengths. One of the stories he tells is the “Tortoise and the Hare” teaching that “slow and steady, wins the race.”
